Program of Work Goals and Projects for 2014: Lenoir County Education Foundation Chairperson: Chamber Chair Elect, John McPhaul, Chick-fil-A Staff: Laura Lee Sylvester President and Brandon Donaldson, Director of Operations The Education Committee and Foundation is a catalyst for educational excellence and an improved quality of life in Lenoir County by connecting the business community and all levels of education through related activities and awareness. -Support and assist the Lenoir County Public School’s newly created vision, mission and goals. -Work with schools to host Adult Spelling Bee and other fundraising events to fund the yearly teacher mini grant program -Find other methods to raise funds and collect school supplies to help children in need -Support school’s awareness efforts connecting to community, work force development, and businesses. -Work with the LCPS Gear-up program to develop a project to follow graduates and keep them informed about the community so they may consider staying or moving back to Kinston-Lenoir County. -Work with the LCPS Gear-up program to help find mentors for the senior projects.
The Lenoir County Education Foundation proudly sponsors a Mini Grant Program designed to encourage teachers, media coordinators, guidance counselors, and principals to go beyond the basic curriculum by offering creative and innovative educational opportunities for their students for which federal, state, and local funding is not available. Grant applications may be submitted for amounts up to $500. The deadline for grant applications to be received at the Chamber office is Friday, October 31, 2014 by 12:00 pm
The Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce has been serving Kinston and Lenoir County since 1911. The Chamber acts as a voice and advocate for the community regarding economic, community and government issues and represents Kinston and Lenoir County as a great place to live, work and play.
